YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Lipsticks

I have heard so many beauty gurus rave about the YSL Rouge Volupté lipsticks but I don't think these babies get enough hype. These are the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine Lipsticks and I'll be honest, I much prefer this formula. I own three of these little beauties and I love love love them...and like every piece of makeup I tend to love, I save these for the most special occasions. You will never see me rocking up to the corner shop sporting one of these!

The packaging is exactly the same as the Rouge Volupté originals; gold with each shade displayed in a detailed band around the middle. They are actually quite heavy in weight (not on the lips) so I don't think they are particularly travel friendly but of course, they will look absolutely gorgeous on your makeup stand. Whilst the originals are highly opaque and creamy, this formula is very glossy and more on the sheer side so there is no need to apply a lip gloss on top. Due to this, I chose very bright colours as these tend to last much longer on the lips and appear more opaque than the nude shades. In addition to this, I do prefer a bolder lip when I go out at night! You may be able to tell by the swatches that although I describe them as sheer, they do provide a fantastic amount of colour. The darker colours provide a bit of a stain on the lips and therefore last an exceptional amount of time, around 2 hours before a further application is required while the lighter colours may need topping up more regularly. They smell very fruity and feel luxurious on the lips, very comfortable to wear. These retail for around £24 and are sold online and in numerous retailers such as Boots and Debenhams.

No.13 Pink In Paris - I always fall in love with lipsticks that have romantic names such as this one (is that a little sad...? Comment below if you feel the same about lipstick names!). This is a beautiful red based pink with a subtle shot of white shimmer running through it. Shimmer will always give the impression of a fuller lip and it eliminates the need for a lipgloss. I have worn this both in the daytime and at night, switching up a more natural day eye to a smokey brown night eye.

No.19 Fuschia in Rage - Purple...its OK to be a little intimidated by this option. The vampy, daringly bold result of this lipstick is probably why I chose it because that is exactly how it makes me feel when I wear it. This is a gorgeous purple based fuschia with a very subtle hint of blue and white shimmer. I don't tend to wear this option during the day but at night it can be beautiful coupled with a fair amount of bronzer and winged out black eyeliner (I wouldn't wear a heavy smokey eye look with this, I find it can look a bit much). If you want to road test a similar colour before splashing out on this one, a fantastic dupe is Rimmel's Sugar Plum lipstick which retails for around the £5/6 mark.

No.6 Pink In Devotion - This was the first Rouge Volupté Shine lipstick that I purchased. This particular lipstick is very special to me as I wore it to my graduation and a few other very special occasions. It is a beautifully true pink colour with a delicious amount of blue and white shimmer, a little more than the previous choices. If you are considering gifting one of these lipsticks, this is a brilliant choice as it will go with any skin tone and it strikes me as quite a princess like colour (what girl doesn't want to feel like a princess?)! I have worn this during the day but I do prefer to wear it at night with a bit of smoked out brown eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line (not too much heavy eyeshadow).
